bAIbel AV does the familiar work of a computer-assisted translation tool, and adds what that work now needs: a way to use powerful AI models without giving away confidential content, a free choice of which model to use, and AI assistance that a translator stays in control of. Three ideas run through everything it does.
The three ideas
Machine translation sends your text to a model run by someone else. bAIbel AV hides the sensitive parts — names, numbers, standard clauses — before anything is sent, and restores them afterwards. For the most sensitive work, run the model entirely on your own hardware so nothing leaves at all.
You are not tied to one AI provider. Connect the model you choose — a different one for each project or task — and balance capability, privacy, and cost as the job demands. A small amount of credit covers a great deal of translation.
When AI makes changes across a translation, it proposes them; you review and validate; only what you accept reaches the file. The judgement, and the voice, stay with the translator — the industry specialist, not the model.
What it does
Translation memory with fuzzy matching, termbases, inline-code and formatting handling, and faithful export to the original format. It reads and writes the standard XLIFF, TMX, and MultiTerm files, with round-trip support for memoQ and Trados.
Switch a term or shift register across a whole document and the grammar follows — articles, agreement, and case endings in German, French, Spanish, Russian and beyond — each change reviewed before it lands.
Rather than translate sentences in isolation, it uses a document’s sections, their purpose, and a summary of the whole as context, and lets you pick a strategy to suit the text — adapt close memory matches, or translate a new document afresh.
A dedicated step hides figures — revenues, percentages, counts — before translation and restores them exactly, and lets you prove the round trip before you rely on it. Built for documents like unpublished earnings releases.

A companion server is in development: a central translation-memory and termbase server with team-based workflow management — shared, governed language assets and coordinated projects across a whole organisation, under the same confidentiality model.

Confidentiality features mask sensitive content before it is sent to a model and restore it afterwards; running a model on your own hardware keeps content within your environment. While a project is open, working content is stored on the local machine — handle and clear it according to your own policies. Security audits such as SOC 2 apply to the AI provider and plan you select, not to bAIbel AV; verify them for your chosen provider. The bAIbel server is in development and not yet released.
